The Best Heavy Bag Boxing Gloves Review

Are you looking for the right pair of gloves to work the heavy bag?

It doesn’t matter if you’re an amateur boxer or a seasoned professional, the right heavy bag boxing gloves are essential for getting the best workout in and protecting your hands. Bag gloves are different than sparring gloves—typically much lighter and providing less protection. It’s always best to use bag gloves so you can work your combinations with more speed and accuracy.

When it comes to heavy bag boxing gloves, we’ve reviewed a wide variety of brands. One of our favorite pairs of gloves comes from Title. Title has been in the business of manufacturing and selling boxing equipment for many years now. They’re one of the premier brands when it comes to boxing gloves, wraps, shoes and equipment. Title also sells excellent Mixed Martial Arts gear that is worn by some of the best fighters in the sport.

In our opinion, Title Gel boxing gloves are a must-have item for anyone who is serious about their bag training.

Here’s why:

About Title Gel Heavy Bag Boxing Gloves

The Title Gel boxing gloves come with a zippered back wrist that actually allows you to insert 4 different weights into the gloves for resistance training on the heavy bag. The exterior of the gloves are made of durable leather, while the interior is constructed of Gel Enforced lining and multi-layer foam padding. These materials allow you to have a better fitting glove that will not slip or shift, even after you’ve thrown dozens of hooks and jabs!

Here’s some specific information about the individual features of the Title Gel boxing gloves.

Protection and Padding

Most bag gloves provide less padding and protection than sparring gloves. The more padding that you have, the slower your punches typically are. However, the Title Gel gloves have more padding than many other bag gloves on the market. Somehow, Title was able to manufacture a glove that was light and quick, while still providing a decent amount of padding to protect your hands.

The wrist strap is thick enough to hold your gloves on tightly without weighing down your hands. The hand compartment feels nice and snug, with just enough give to provide comfort without sacrificing performance.

Quality and Durability

Title makes very durable products and these Gel gloves are no exception. Both the external and the internal materials are built for long-lasting performance, allowing for countless sessions with the canvas.

These GEL gloves are built for absorbing repeated punches to the same points, without weighing down your fists. You’ll find the leather is clearly a superior quality material and the tightly stitched seams hold up after even the toughest workouts.

One thing that we’ve noticed with lesser quality gloves is that repeated heavy bag use eventually wears out the leather. It begins to crack and degrade and expose the padding underneath. However, the leather on these heavy bag boxing gloves seems to be built for much longer usage.

Style and Comfort

When it comes to heavy bag boxing gloves, you want to focus on performance and durability. However, it’s important to also choose a pair that reflects your personal style.

From the outside, these gloves look like a pair of futuristic gauntlets. The white thumb and wrist areas merge with the jet-black leather on the hand and knuckles and the entire glove is trimmed in red stitching. We really liked the look of these gloves, however, it was the fit that really stood out.

Thanks to the patented Title GEL technology, you’ll be slipping your hands into some of the most comfortable heavy bag boxing gloves that exist. The padding is firm but still allows for a little bit of give. When you work the bags, your wrists feel supported and the cushioning is clearly several notches above the competition. We give these gloves a five star rating in the comfort department.

Size and Weight

The Title Gel boxing gloves come in two different sizes:

  • Regular

  • Large

If you have small to medium sized hands, then you will want to choose the regular size. Individuals with large and extra-large hands should choose the large option.

The gloves weigh in at a solid 16 oz before you add any of the extra weights. However, with all of the weights you’re looking at about 3.5 lbs each. For an outstanding endurance workout that tests your deltoids and lats, you should experiment with different weighted combinations.

Title Platinum Paramount Bag/Sparring Gloves Review

If you’ve been involved in boxing for any amount of time then you’ve no doubt come across a pair of  Title Platinum Paramount Bag/Sparring Gloves. These gloves are considered the “go to” bag gloves for fighters of all levels—from beginners to world champions.

Title has been manufacturing and selling boxing gear for quite some time now. They also make and sell their own unique brand of boxing shoes, punching bags, handwraps, accessories, MMA gear, and more. Thousands of boxers and martial artists trust their hands with Title brand gloves.

About Title Platinum Paramount Bag/Sparring Gloves

These gloves are known for being some of the most durable bag gloves on the market today. When you’re working your jabs, hooks and straights into the canvas, you want a pair of gloves that will stand up to plenty of punishment. You need padding that is protective and yet still has a little bit of give.

With these gloves, the padding is already “broken in” so you start out with a level of comfort that is hard to beat. The Para-Mounted stacked cuff gives you excellent ergonomic support and coverage with every single punch. It keeps your wrist protected twisting and misfired punches.

The exterior of the glove is covered in extra thick—yet pliable—full grain leather that is also extremely durable. In fact, Title gloves have a reputation for having some of the longest lasting leather that you can buy.

The interior lining is made of a moisture-wicking material that helps to keep your hands dry and slip-free while you’re working the bags. The palms are vented to allow hot air to escape while you train.

For more details about the Title Platinum Paramount Bag/Sparring Gloves, here’s our opinion on some individual features.

Protection and Padding

These gloves are well known for providing excellent protection. The leather is extra thick—especially compared to most other boxing gloves. When it comes to wrist protection, these gloves provide a decent amount of coverage.

One of the things you’ll notice immediately is that the hand compartment is slightly larger than other gloves. We didn’t feel like this was a problem, but it does feel a little different at first. The finger compartments have just enough give to allow for maximum power and impact, without sacrificing form.

Due to the “already broken in” feature and the general design, you’ll probably find the padding to be more compact toward the middle of the gloves and thinner around the knuckles. This gives them a “soft” feeling. To us, these gloves seem light for 16 oz gloves, which has everything to do with how the weight is distributed.

Quality and Durability

The Title Platinum Paramount Bag/Sparring Gloves are quite durable. Since they’re primarily bag gloves, they’re built for absorbing repeated shots in the same locations on the gloves. The leather is thick and strong and doesn’t wear down easily.

The straps and stitching are secure and the thumb is larger than most other bag gloves we’ve seen. You can easily slide your hand into these without forcing them at all.

Style and Comfort

When it comes to style, if you are looking for a pair of minimalist gloves, then this are the right pair for you. The simple black leather with white trim is attractive yet understated—for the fighter who would rather make a statement with his striking than his gloves. The TITLE logo is featured prominently on the outside of the glove and wrist strap.

We found these gloves to be extremely comfortable, no doubt due to the “already broken in” aspect. When you try them on, your hands and fingers will feel nice and snug, without being too tight.

Size and Weight

These boxing gloves come in 3 different weight options:

  • 12 oz

  • 14 oz

  • 16 oz

If you choose to spar with your TITLE gloves, then you’ll definitely want to go with the 16 oz gloves. This simply provides the best level of protection for you and your sparring partner.

If, on the other hand, you wish to use these gloves exclusively for working the bags and mitts, then you’ll want to choose the gloves that best match your weight class.

54 kilos and lower: 12 or 14 oz gloves

54-68 kilos: 14 or 16 oz gloves

68-82 kilos: 16 oz gloves

82 and up: 16 oz gloves

Hayabusa Boxing Gloves Review

Hayabusa is a company that’s dedicated to creating products for the modern warrior. In just a few short years, this organization has become a titan in the combat sports world. In fact, some of the best fighters in the world use their gloves, pads, and MMA gear to train and compete.

Hayabusa means peregrine falcon in the Japanese language. The Hayabusa is a bird of prey and the fastest animal on the planet, known for it’s tremendous strength and speed. It’s no wonder that this company picked the Hayabusa for their trademark.

When it comes to boxing gloves, Hayabusa is committed to creating outstanding products that help fighters train more effectively. Their goal is to produce gloves and gear that capture the essence of the warrior’s way.

You can currently find Hayabusa protecting the hands of several famous MMA fighters, including:

  • Vladimir Matyushenko

  • Rory Macdonald

  • Brian Foster

  • Yves Jabouin

  • Ryan Jensen

  • Kyle Watson

And many, many more.

So you know that Hayabusa has a reputation for selling great products, but how do the Hayabusa boxing gloves measure up against the competition?

Hayabusa Boxing Gloves

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to use a wide range of boxing gloves. We’ve punished the canvas with all sorts of bag gloves and stepped into the ring with many different types of sparring gloves. Some have been good and some have been bad, but very few have been outstanding.

However, we can absolutely say that these are outstanding boxing gloves, for several reasons.

Design and Development

Hayabusa uses the most up-to-date technology when they engineer their products. They subject their materials to countless stress tests and only release new products when they are sure that they’ve produced something that’s remarkable. Like a master swordsman crafting a blade for a samurai, the development team at Hayabusa takes their time to do it right.

Avoiding Injury

One of the most important reasons to wear the right boxing gloves is due to injury. When you wear the wrong gloves, you wrist sprained tendons, torn muscles and ligaments, and even broken bones. Your wrists can absorb an unnecessary amount of shock or even be twisted the wrong way due to poor support.

With Hayabusa boxing gloves protecting our hands, we feel like we don’t need to worry as much about injury. The wrist support is outstanding on all of their products, and the padding has clearly been crafted to provide maximum support without sacrificing the accuracy and power in your punches.

Superior Material

One of the signs of a good pair of boxing gloves is the material that they’re constructed from. Lesser quality gloves tend to break down and degrade around the knuckles and thumb, especially after you’ve been using them on a bag. The interior lining can tear, the seams can become loose and suddenly you’ve got to buy a new pair of boxing gloves!

However, with Hayabusa boxing gloves, you get durable material that has been designed for long lasting performance. This means that you can work your hooks, uppercuts, jabs and straights without worrying about your gloves breaking down in the near future. Instead, you have a “broken in” pair of gloves that feel like an extension of your own fists.

Comfortable Interior

Hayabusa makes some of the most comfortable gloves on the market, hands down. They fit snug and yet provide just enough give to absorb the impact of the canvas (or your opponent’s body).

Gloves that aren’t comfortable are a deal-breaker for us, because it’s just too difficult to concentrate on your training when the gloves don’t fit well. Even worse, you risk developing bad habits as you adjust your hands inside the gloves!

Hayabusa Tokushu Boxing Gloves: Our Favorite

Our favorite Hayabusa boxing gloves are the Tokushu series. These are premium gloves that come equipped with a tremendous amount of outstanding features.

First of all, the leather Vylar material feels lighter than traditional leather. Secondly, the Ecta Activated Carbonized Bamboo Lining is designed to provide you with a higher level of comfort and fit.

Ecta is a durable lining that has built-in deodorizing and heat regulating properties. This way, your hands stay dryer for a longer period of time—preventing slippage and misfiring of punches.

Another one of the features that we like so much with these gloves is the wrist support. With Hayabusa’s patented Duel-X wrist close and Fusion-Zone wrist splint system, you get extra support that ensures your hands are lined up properly.

Ultimately, this helps prevent injury and helps you develop better form as you go through your workouts. To read full Hayabusa Tokushu Boxing Gloves Review click here.

You can also find all Hayabusa Brand Boxing Gloves Reviews here.

We don’t give too many brands an “outstanding” rating, but Hayabusa definitely deserves it. This company is 100% dedicated to the fighting arts and it comes through in every single pair of Hayabusa boxing gloves.

Hayabusa Ikusa Boxing Gloves Review

H

ayabusa Ikusa boxing gloves are rapidly becoming some of the most popular gloves in the MMA circuit. According to the Hayabusa website, these boxing gloves have been custom engineered to provide the perfect combination of performance, durability and comfort.

In Japanese, the word Hayabusa refers to the swift and deadly peregrine falcon—the fastest member of the animal kingdom. This bird of prey captures the essence of the Hayabusa philosophy: speed, strength, power and a warrior’s spirit.

The Ikusa series of products include boxing gloves, headgear, shinguards, MMA gloves, Thai Pads and Focus Pads. All of these products have been developed by Hayabusa’s science team to provide superior quality products that give fighters an edge when training and competing. According to Hayabusa, these products are perfect for beginners and pros alike.

Currently, Hayabusa sponsors several professional MMA fighters.

Hayabusa has become one of the more popular sponsors of MMA competitors today. This includes professional fighters like:

  • Denis Kang

  • Frank Mir

  • Jeremy Stephens

  • Chael Sonnen

  • Matt Serra

  • Stefan Struve

  • Rory MacDonald

  • Takeya Mizugaki

  • Rousimar Palhares

And many more.

About Hayabusa Ikusa Boxing Gloves

These gloves have been custom engineered using the most cutting edge technologies of fight science for maximum results during sparring and bag work sessions. They include the patented Dual-X closure system for a better fit, wrist support, and striking energy dynamics.

The interior of the glove features an advanced moisture wicking lining and a responsive inner core—designed to protect your hands without shifting or sliding around.

These gloves “feel” very lightweight and secure when you put them on, and many fighters will tell you that they have become their “go-to” bag gloves. The fit and weight distribution of these gloves allows for quick punches and optimal energy distribution in your punches.

For a more in-depth opinion of the Hayabasa Ikusa boxing gloves, please take a look at the following key points.

Protection and Padding

The Hayabasa Ikusa boxing gloves get a 10/10 for padding and protection. When you’re training in any form of combat sport, it’s absolutely essential to have superior protection. Without the right level of hand protection, you can suffer bruising, swelling, torn muscles, ruptured tendons—even broken bones!

You’ll notice a big difference when it comes to the support and alignment of your hand and wrist. This is due to the patented Duel-X closure system, which provides the perfect degree of alignment. Hayabusa went to great lengths to determine the right fit to prevent:

  • Damaging flexion

  • Improper extension

  • Twisting injuries

The padding is clearly a higher-grade material than most gloves in this price range—able to absorb the impact of even the most devastating crosses and uppercuts.

When you’re working your stand up game, you’ll be subjecting your hands to hundreds of punches, day after day. Without the proper padding and protection, you could face injury that could take you out of the ring for several months or longer. Hayabusa clearly designed these gloves with your safety in mind.

Quality and Durability

The design team at Hayabusa has a reputation for putting together some of the highest quality boxing gloves on the market today. According to accounts from several amateur and pro fighters, these gloves last longer and are more durable than many other brands. Both the interior and exterior elements last a long time without breaking down or degrading.

Style and Comfort

The Hayabusa Ikusa gloves have a relatively understated exterior design. The soft “rising sun” design is focused around a single Japanese character, while the wrist supports feature the Hayabusa name and logo—a soaring falcon bordered by a red orb.

Fighters tend to love the interior core complex and advanced wicking system, and we have to agree that they are great features. These gloves also fit very snugly and do not slide around the way other gloves can after around the 20-minute mark. This is HUGE when it comes to preventing misfired punches and ensuring proper alignment during training.

You can really notice a difference between these and other bag/sparring gloves. They seem to fit more snugly and “square up” your wrist and hands better. The weight is distributed evenly throughout, so there isn’t that awkward feeling that you can get from top-heavy gloves.
